Allen Wright
Allen is both Kevin's 4th-great-grandfather and 5th-great-grandfather.
(Allen's grandson John Lewis Wright married Allen's great-granddaughter Laura Ann Wilson.)
Early Life and Marriage
Allen Wright (some say David Allen Wright) was the second son of John Wright, and was born on 22 or 26 Nov 1789 in Chester County, South Carolina.
When Allen was about 18, his entire family began a move west to Kentucky, accompanied by at least two other families - the Peebles and the Blissets.
They settled in Hart County Kentucky; some families chose neighboring Hardin County to the north.
Marriage and Family.
Allen married young Hannah Peebles, who would have been almost 15, "on the way to Kentucky," so perhaps in Jan 1908.
Others claim a marriage date of 6 Nov 1810 in Grayson County KY (adjacent to Hart KY) which might make more sense age-wise.
Allen and Hannah had eleven (some say twelve) children, all born in Hart County between 1811 and 1835.
- John L Wright (1811-1891)
- Elizabeth L Wright (1813-1845) - born 15 Jul 1813 in Hart County KY.
Married Ransom Amos Dawson in 1833; they had four sons and one daughter before her death at age 31 on 23 Feb 1845 in Hart County.
- Sarah Wright (1815-1897) - born on 9 Aug 1815 in Hart County KY. Married William Wilson; they had 2 sons and three daughters.
- Carter T Wright (1817-1892) - born on 9 Jun 1817 in Hart County KY. Married Christiana Goodman; they had one daughter and three sons.
After Christiana's death from consumption, in 1860, he married her older sister Irena. Carter died on 20 Feb 1892 near Ark City KS.
Allen's son John is Kevin's 4th-great-grandfather while Allen's other son Blatchley is Kevin's 3rd-great-grandfather.
